Elementor Page Builder Overview

Elementor, in my opinion, is the best WordPress page builders that I’ve tried that’s intuitive, rich in features, easy to use, and offers a free version. Unlike the free versions of most page builders, the Elementor free version is packed with powerful features to help you create a professional website without writing a single line of code.

The beauty of Elementor Page Builder is that you can use it with any WordPress theme of your choice, you don’t have to use the Elementor HELLO THEME.  I really like the flexibility of Elementor, although it has a little bit of learning curve at first once you get a hang of it, the possibility of what you can create is endless.

So if you’re just starting out and you’re on a low budget then the Elementor free version is a great tool for you. But if you’re looking for more advanced features that can take your website design to a whole new level, then you can consider getting the Elementor Pro.

What Does Elementor Offer you

Elementor is a front-end page builder which is great especially for beginners because backend editing can be confusing and difficult for beginners.

I prefer front-end page builders, Elementor gives you a realtime preview of the changes you made as you’re making them. it’s better, faster and most importantly huge time saver compared to working on the backend, saving your changes and then preview.

Templates and Building Blocks

Elementor comes with a lot of pre-made templates you can use for your website and also the option to create your own templates from scratch, save it to your library and reuse it at any time on any page.

If you’re trying to meet a dead or you just want to get your website done faster, templates are a huge time saver. It lets you create a specific type of page in just a few clicks. For example, you can create a landing page, about, contact, homepage, and other pages as well in just a few seconds.

Blocks are premade sections just like the templates, it allows you to quickly load a specific section into a page instead of loading a whole page. For example, you can load sections like a call to action, about us, FAQs and many more in just a few clicks.

Responsive Design

Considering more than 50% of website visitors use their mobile devices to access the Internet, it’s very important to have a mobile-friendly website. Elementor gives you the option to preview your design on tablets and mobile devices at any point in time and adjust the design until it displays without any issues on any screen size. This makes it easy to design a perfect responsive website.

Elementor works with any WordPress Theme

Elementor is compatible with almost any WordPress theme and Woo-commerce. There are four most compatible and most used themes with Elementor. They are Astra theme, Generate Press, Ocean WP, and Hello Elementor theme.

Elementor Pro Features

Elementor Pro comes with additional features that can take your website process to another level. Elementor pro allows you to customize every part of your website, unlike the free version that limits customization for specific areas like headers, footers, archives, and search results pages, etc.

The question everyone asks, do I need the Pro version?

My answer, Yes! if you want to customize every part of your website but you don’t know how to code. the Elementor Pro Version allows you to create the following without any coding.

  • Blog post page (you can create a blog post template and use it for different pages and categories)
  • Archive page ( you can create your own archive page), Single product page, cart and Checkout page
  • Header and Footer (you can create more than one Headers or Footer and assign them to different pages on your site if you wish)

Search results page and 404 page ( you can create your own 404 page, and search result page).

Elementor Pro also comes with additional modules

  • Custom CSS
  • Sliders and Ken Burns animation effect
  • Portfolio and post layouts
  • Flip boxes
  • Pro templates and sections
  • Forms (opt-in, contact, and login forms)
  • Pricing tables
  • Price list
  • Countdown
  • Form integrations
  • Blockquote
  • Media carousel
  • Share buttons
  • Reviews
  • Woocommerce features (products, categories, add to cart)

Pricing and Licensing

Elementor Pro has Five licensing options: Essential, Pro, Expert, Studio and Agency. Each offers pretty much the same features, the main difference is how many websites you can use it to create, Elementor expert profile and the VIP support you get with studio and agency license. See pricing blow for more details.

What I don’t like about Elementor

Honestly, I love using Elementor but there are a few things Elemetor can improve on to make the user experience better.

Elementor does not have the drag and drop padding and margin adjustment option, you have to use the advanced option every time you have to adjust padding or margin which can be very confusing and time consuming for beginners.

Another problem I have with Elementor is the pricing plans, there is no lifetime licensing option which means you are forced to pay for the updates and support every year if you want your website to stay up to date.

If your license expires because you decided not to renew, you will lose access to future updates, support, and pro templates and blocks. This can cause compatibility issues if there is a WordPress update.

Final Thoughts

I cant think of any other WordPress page builder that offers a lot of features even in the free version which makes it the most popular feature-rich free WordPress page builder.

I recommend giving Elementor a try. If you’re just starting out the free version should be enough and you can upgrade to Pro Version at any time.
